SurgiWorld supplies periosteal elevators to oral surgeons, periodontists and general dentists across Canada.
What is in the range
The range includes Molt 9, Allen 9A, Prichard 3 and Seldin 23 periosteal elevators, Buser and Hourigan elevators, a long-handle Malo elevator, a Steigmann periosteal splitter and a Tabanella papilla micro elevator.
How to choose
Sharp ends separate tightly attached tissue, while blunt ends protect the tissue during reflection. Double-ended patterns cover two tasks with one instrument, and the micro elevator suits delicate papilla work.
Clinical use
Periosteal elevators lift the periosteum from bone to reflect a flap for extractions, implant surgery and periodontal procedures.
All instruments are made from medical grade stainless steel and can be autoclaved between patients.
Related: Surgical Chisels, Dental Elevators and Surgical Retractors.
Frequently asked questions
What is a periosteal elevator used for?
It separates the periosteum and soft tissue from the bone so the flap can be reflected and held clear of the surgical site.
What is a periosteal splitter?
A splitter, such as the Steigmann, separates the flap into layers when a partial thickness flap is needed.
