Gracey 15/16 Curette, Modified Mesial Access

Gracey 15/16 Curette is selected as a modified alternative to the 11/12 when the standard shank angle forces an uncomfortable wrist position while reaching mesial surfaces on posterior molars.

The defining feature is the increased shank angle relative to the 11/12, which keeps the wrist in a more neutral position during deep subgingival strokes while the blade curvature and 70-degree cutting edge remain the same as the standard mesial pattern.

Clinically, the 15/16 is used for scaling and root planing the mesial surfaces of posterior teeth, particularly on second and third molars where access with a standard-angle instrument is physically restricted. Double-ended, medical-grade stainless steel, corrosion resistant, fully autoclavable.
