Gracey 17/18 Curette, Modified Distal Access

Gracey 17/18 Curette is selected as a modified alternative to the 13/14 when the standard shank curvature cannot clear the crown of a second or third molar to reach the distal surface.

The defining feature is an exaggerated shank curvature paired with a slightly shorter blade than the standard 13/14, which lets the instrument navigate around the crown and maintain the correct 70-degree working angle in tight posterior spaces.

Clinically, the 17/18 is used for scaling and root planing the distal surfaces of second and third molars specifically, stepping in wherever the 13/14 is physically restricted by limited mouth opening or crowded posterior anatomy. Double-ended, medical-grade stainless steel, corrosion resistant, fully autoclavable.
