Adson Dressing Forceps, Serrated, Tungsten Carbide

CAD 159.99

SKU: TF141
  • Tungsten Carbide Serrated Tip Inserts – TC serrations maintain grip texture significantly longer than standard SS serrations under repeated use and autoclaving
  • Long-Term Grip Performance – TC hardness resists jaw surface wear; consistent material grip through thousands of use-sterilize cycles
  • Atraumatic on Tissue – Serrated tips (no sharp teeth) are safe for contact with wound margins and mucosal tissue during dressing handling
  • Spring-Open Adson Frame – Lightweight one-hand instrument; consistent ergonomics with the rest of the Adson family
  • Overall Length: 12.5 cm / 4.9 inches
  • Gold Handle Ring Identification – Instant visual TC instrument recognition in a mixed tray setup
  • Reduced Hand Fatigue – TC tips grip materials with less required closing force vs. worn SS serrations in high-volume use
  • Primary Use: High-volume dressing placement and removal, gauze and haemostatic material handling, collagen/membrane material management, suture thread handling
  • Best For: High-volume dental practices and oral surgery clinics where instruments are used multiple times daily
  • Material: Stainless steel body + Tungsten Carbide tip inserts
  • Sterilization: Autoclave-compatible – 134°C / 273°F
  • Recommended for oral surgeons, periodontists, and high-volume general dental practices

The Adson Dressing Forceps Serrated Tungsten Carbide 12.5cm (4.9 inches) is a premium-grade thumb forceps with Tungsten Carbide (TC) serrated tip inserts for superior and long-lasting grip on intraoral dressing materials, gauze, and wound packing agents. Tungsten Carbide is significantly harder than standard stainless steel, meaning the serrated jaw surface maintains its grip texture far longer under repeated use and autoclave cycles before any reduction in performance is noticed. This makes the TC version the preferred choice for high-volume dental practices and surgical clinics where instruments are used multiple times daily. Spring-open Adson frame for comfortable one-hand use. Fully autoclave-compatible.

The Adson Dressing Forceps Serrated TC is the highest-performance version in the Adson dressing forceps range. It combines the familiar Adson spring-open thumb forceps frame and the atraumatic serrated tip design of the standard serrated version, with the key upgrade of Tungsten Carbide jaw inserts that deliver materially better grip durability over the working life of the instrument.

In clinical practice, the functional difference between standard stainless steel serrated tips and TC serrated tips is most apparent over time. With repeated use — gripping moist gauze, haemostatic sponges, dressing materials, and suture threads dozens of times per working day, followed by autoclave sterilization — stainless steel serration ridges gradually wear down and lose their surface texture. This reduces grip effectiveness, requiring the clinician to apply more closing force to maintain material hold, which in turn increases hand fatigue. Tungsten Carbide inserts resist this wear process significantly, maintaining consistent serration sharpness and grip performance through a far greater number of use-and-sterilize cycles.

Identifying TC Instruments:

Tungsten Carbide instruments are typically identified by gold-coloured handle rings or TC markings on the instrument body — a widely used colour-coding standard in surgical and dental instruments. This distinguishes them from standard stainless steel versions in a mixed instrument tray.

At 12.5 cm (4.9 inches), this instrument matches the standard Adson length — long enough for comfortable intraoral reach while keeping the clinician’s fingers outside the oral cavity. The TC tips are the same width as the standard serrated version, providing the same tip footprint and the same atraumatic, non-toothed contact on tissue when the instrument brushes against mucosal surfaces during dressing placement.

The spring-open handle closes with a thumb-index pinch and opens automatically on release — the same ergonomic mechanism across the Adson family — keeping instrument handling consistent regardless of which version the clinician picks up.

Who Should Choose the TC Version: The TC version is the right choice for high-volume practices where dressing forceps are used multiple times per patient and multiple patients per day. The higher initial cost of TC instruments is offset by their significantly longer working life before jaw resurfacing or instrument replacement is needed.

Clinical Indications: Gauze and haemostatic material placement in extraction sites and surgical wounds, periodontal dressing application and removal, collagen and resorbable membrane material handling, wound packing, and suture thread management — all in a high-volume clinical setting where instrument durability matters.

Material & Build: Stainless steel body with Tungsten Carbide serrated tip inserts. Autoclave-compatible at 134°C (273°F). Overall length: 12.5 cm / 4.9 inches.

Overall Length12.5 cm / 4.9 inches
Tip TypeTungsten Carbide serrated inserts – no teeth; atraumatic on tissue
Handle StyleSpring-open thumb forceps – one-hand operation
TC IdentificationGold-coloured handle rings / TC marking
MaterialStainless steel body + Tungsten Carbide tip inserts
Primary UseHigh-volume dressing handling, gauze placement, wound packing, suture management
Key Advantage vs. SSTC tips maintain serration grip far longer; better long-term value in high-use practices
SterilizationAutoclave-compatible – 134°C / 273°F

  • Standard SS Serrated: Serration ridges wear down gradually under repeated use and autoclaving; grip reduces over time
  • TC Serrated (this instrument): TC inserts maintain consistent serration sharpness far longer — grip stays effective without increased hand pressure
  • Best value for: Practices using dressing forceps multiple times daily where instrument longevity directly affects replacement costs
