At the end of fixed appliance treatment, bracket removal is one of the highest-risk steps for enamel surface damage. Poorly controlled debonding force, whether from an instrument that doesn’t fit the tooth angulation or one that requires excessive squeeze to generate shear, increases the likelihood of enamel fracture, bracket base remnants, and patient discomfort. The Angulated Bracket Removing Pliers address this by combining a high-angle working tip with a lever geometry engineered to deliver focused peel force precisely at the bracket–enamel interface.
The angulated design gives the clinician direct access to posterior brackets without bending the patient’s head position or distorting soft tissue for visibility. The high-angle tip seats against the gingival and occlusal tie wings of the bracket simultaneously, ensuring the force vector runs along the adhesive bond plane rather than across enamel. This is particularly relevant for ceramic and plastic brackets, which require a controlled debonding force vector to avoid cohesive bracket fracture that leaves base fragments on the tooth.
The plier is constructed from medical-grade stainless steel, with working tips that maintain their geometry through repeated autoclave cycles. The slim tip profile also assists access in patients with limited interarch clearance or crowded posterior dentition. After debonding, residual adhesive removal is a separate step; these pliers are optimized for the bracket removal stage only and work alongside adhesive removing instruments and polishing burs in a complete debonding sequence. Compatible with all standard direct-bond bracket systems including self-ligating, twin, single, and mini bracket designs in stainless steel, ceramic, and polycarbonate.
