Bird Beak Pliers with Cutter

CAD 189.99

SKU: RT155

Bird beak pliers with cutter combine wire bending and wire cutting on a single instrument, saving the clinician a tool change during archwire detailing. The round and square beak tips form loops, stops, and step bends in the usual bird beak fashion, while a diamond-honed anvil cutter built into the rear portion of the beak cuts the wire cleanly once the bend is complete. This integrated cutter handles round and rectangular stainless steel wire up to .025″ (.64 mm), and the bending beaks form wire up to .020″ (.51 mm). One instrument replaces two on the adjustment tray for any sequence that requires bending followed immediately by cutting. Medical-grade stainless steel, autoclavable.

Many archwire adjustment sequences require forming a bend and then trimming the wire to length immediately afterward, which normally means picking up a separate cutter once the bird beak plier has finished shaping the loop or stop. Bird beak pliers with cutter remove that extra step by combining both functions on one instrument. The front portion of the beak retains the familiar round and square bird beak configuration for loop forming, stop placement, and step bends, while a hardened cutting edge is set into the rear portion of the same beak.

The cutting edge uses a diamond-honed anvil design, where one beak carries the sharpened blade and the opposing beak provides a flat anvil surface for the blade to close against. This produces a clean, flush cut rather than a crushed or frayed wire end, which matters both for patient comfort and for the wire end seating properly in the next step of the procedure. Because the cutter sits at the rear of the same beak used for bending, the clinician can form a bend and cut the wire to length without repositioning their hand or reaching for a second instrument.

Bending capacity on the front beaks reaches .020″ (.51 mm) round wire, while the rear cutter handles a higher capacity of up to .025″ (.64 mm), both round and rectangular. This asymmetry is intentional: the cutting edge needs to sever a broader range of wire gauges than any single bend requires, since the wire being trimmed may be heavier than the loop just formed at the tip. The beaks are full hardened tool steel inserts, guaranteed against bending or splaying under normal use. Medical-grade stainless steel, fully autoclavable.

Product Features

  • Bird beak pliers with cutter combine loop forming and wire cutting on one instrument, eliminating a tool change mid-procedure
  • Diamond-honed anvil cutter produces a clean, flush cut rather than a crushed or frayed wire end
  • Front beaks bend round and rectangular wire up to .020″ (.51 mm); rear cutter handles wire up to .025″ (.64 mm)
  • Cutter and bending beak share the same working end, so no hand repositioning is needed between forming and cutting
  • Full hardened tool steel inserts on both beaks, guaranteed against bending or splaying under normal use
  • Smooth bending surfaces with no grooves prevent wire scoring during loop formation
  • Medical-grade stainless steel, fully autoclavable
