Explorer EXP 3A, Fine Tip for Margins

Explorer EXP 3A is selected when a clinician needs to enter a narrow pocket or tight interproximal space that a standard-width explorer tip cannot comfortably access. It is used during restorative exams to trace along fillings and crown margins where microscopic defects are being checked by tactile feedback rather than visually.

The defining feature is the thin, 2 mm working tip on a straight shank, which allows both vertical and horizontal stroke patterns as the clinician walks the tip along a surface. The narrow profile is what lets it seat into tight tissue and narrow pockets without deflecting.

Clinically, the EXP 3A is used for checking restoration margins for microfractures, ledges, and overhangs, and for general caries screening in tight anatomical areas. Single-ended, medical-grade stainless steel, corrosion resistant, fully autoclavable.
