Spade Luxator Distal Angle

CAD 189.99

SKU: EL235
  • Distal-angle blade design – Allows precise entry at the distal aspect of upper and lower teeth
  • Spade-shaped tip – Thin blade for clean distal PDL space penetration
  • Primary Use: Distal and lingual luxation of maxillary premolars, maxillary molars, and root tips
  • Maxillary Focus: Especially useful for upper arch extractions with distal root curvature
  • Lingual Surface Access: Suitable for lingual root tip retrieval in upper arch
  • Blade Width: ~3 mm | Overall Length: ~18–19 cm (7–7.5 in)
  • Material: Premium corrosion-resistant stainless steel
  • Sterilization: Autoclave-compatible (134°C / 273°F)
  • Reduces resistance on distal root surfaces before elevator or forceps use
  • Recommended for complex maxillary molar extractions

Spade Luxator Distal Angle is a spade-bladed dental luxation instrument used to sever the periodontal ligament (PDL) ahead of tooth extraction, built around a flat, wider blade profile than the narrower Luxator periotome line. This distal angle pattern is shaped for the distal and lingual aspects of maxillary premolars, molars, and lingual root tips, where standard straight or mildly angled instruments cannot reach properly. The spade blade inserts at the back of the tooth into the periodontal ligament space, applying steady apical pressure to cut PDL fibers along the root surface and progressively loosen the tooth before elevation or forceps removal. Cutting the ligament first, rather than relying on the blade to pry the tooth loose, reduces the leverage force needed at the extraction step that follows and helps protect the surrounding alveolar bone and soft tissue from the trauma that comes with forcing an intact ligament. This pattern is generally used alongside the other angulations in the Spade Luxator family, since no single angle reaches every surface of every socket across the upper and lower arches. Oral surgeons and general dentists performing routine and surgical extractions add this pattern to the tray specifically for the arch position and angle it is built for. Manufactured from surgical-grade stainless steel, corrosion resistant, fully autoclavable.

Spade Luxator Distal Angle is a spade-bladed luxation instrument, built with a flatter and wider working end than the narrower Luxator periotome line, used to sever the periodontal ligament before a tooth is elevated or removed with forceps.

The distal angle angulation is shaped specifically for the distal and lingual aspects of maxillary premolars, molars, and lingual root tips, where standard straight or mildly angled instruments cannot reach properly. The spade blade inserts at the back of the tooth into the periodontal ligament space, and steady apical pressure along the blade cuts the PDL fibers holding the tooth in place, working around the accessible surface of the root rather than prying against it the way a standard elevator would.

Severing the ligament before elevation reduces the force needed at every later stage of the extraction, which lowers the risk of root fracture and damage to the surrounding bone and soft tissue, particularly around the thin buccal plate. This pattern is generally reached for alongside the other angulations in the Spade Luxator family, since covering both arches and multiple approach angles takes more than one blade shape.

Oral surgeons and general dentists managing routine and surgical extractions keep this pattern on the tray specifically for the arch position and angle of access it is built for, rather than trying to make a single straight instrument work every case. Manufactured from surgical-grade stainless steel, corrosion resistant, fully autoclavable.
