Mini Gracey 13/14 Curette is selected for distal posterior pockets deeper than 5mm where the tissue is also too tight for the standard-length 13/14 blade to enter without distending the sulcus.
The defining feature is a blade 50 percent shorter than the standard 13/14 combined with a terminal shank 3mm longer, preserving the same multi-angled shank and 70-degree cutting edge while fitting into narrower, deeper subgingival spaces.
Clinically, the Mini 13/14 is used for scaling and root planing narrow, deep distal pockets on premolars and molars, and is almost always stocked alongside the Mini 11/12 to complete both surfaces on the same tooth. Double-ended, medical-grade stainless steel, corrosion resistant, fully autoclavable.
