5 Gardner Bone Chisel 4.3 mm, Pyramid-Tip Mono-Bevel Single-Ended Bone Shaving Chisel

CAD 99.99

SKU: CH5GB

5 Gardner Bone Chisel is a 4.3 mm pyramid-tip mono-bevel single-ended instrument used for bone shaving, ridge recontouring, and implant site preparation on dense or irregular cortical bone that a flat-tip instrument cannot engage efficiently. The pyramid-tip geometry tapers to a four-sided point that concentrates push-stroke cutting force into a smaller contact area than the flat-tip #1 or #2 Gardner, giving the clinician more targeted control when the ridge surface carries uneven high points rather than a broad, accessible flat surface. The round platform at the handle-shank junction accepts mallet strikes cleanly for combined hand and mallet-assisted bone removal. Single-ended, medical-grade stainless steel, corrosion resistant, autoclavable.

The Gardner bone chisel 5 extends the mono-bevel single-ended shaving function of the Gardner series with a pyramid-tip geometry rather than the flat tip used on the #1 and #2. Where a flat tip distributes push-stroke force evenly across a straight edge for shaving accessible, relatively flat bone, the four-sided pyramid taper on the #5 concentrates that same force into a narrower point of contact, which is the correct choice for dense or irregular cortical bone that a flat tip cannot engage efficiently.

At 4.3 mm blade width, the #5 sits between the 4 mm #2 and the wider instruments in the series, and its point-loaded pyramid tip is suited to ridge sites where raised or uneven bony projections need to be reduced selectively rather than shaved uniformly across the full surface. The round platform at the handle-shank junction is designed to accept mallet strikes cleanly, allowing the clinician to progress through denser cortical bone by combining controlled mallet tapping with the manual push stroke.

Clinically, the #5 is selected over the flat-tip #1 and #2 for extraction and implant sites where the ridge crest is irregular or unusually dense, and it is typically used before a flat-tip instrument to reduce high points prior to final surface smoothing. Single-ended, medical-grade stainless steel, corrosion resistant, autoclavable.

Product Features

  • 5 Gardner Bone Chisel 4.3 mm pyramid-tip mono-bevel concentrates push-stroke force into a point contact for dense or irregular bone
  • Four-sided pyramid taper engages raised or uneven cortical bone that a flat-tip chisel cannot address selectively
  • Mallet-compatible round platform handle for combined hand pressure and mallet-assisted bone removal
  • Single-ended design for directional control in ridge and implant site preparation
  • 4.3 mm blade width positioned between the 4 mm #2 flat tip and the wider Gardner instruments
  • Typically used before a flat-tip Gardner chisel to reduce irregular high points prior to final smoothing
  • Medical-grade stainless steel, corrosion resistant, fully autoclavable

5 Gardner vs 2 Gardner: Both are mono-bevel single-ended shaving chisels, but the #5 carries a 4.3 mm pyramid tip for point-focused removal of dense or irregular bone, while the #2’s flat 4 mm tip is for broad shaving on accessible, relatively flat surfaces. Use the #5 first on uneven ridges, then finish with the flat-tip #1 or #2.
