Rectangular Arch Bending Pliers
CAD 179.99
Rectangular arch bending pliers are the standard-blade instrument for placing first, second, and third order bends in rectangular stainless steel archwires up to .022″ x .025″ (.56 mm x .64 mm). The full-width flat jaws grip the entire cross-section of the rectangular wire, producing precise in-out, tip, and torque bends with consistent jaw engagement across the wire’s full width. This is the bench-work counterpart to the slim version: best suited for extraoral archwire preparation on the adjustment tray where bracket clearance is not a constraint, and for any bend requiring the broadest possible jaw contact for maximum control. Medical-grade stainless steel, fully autoclavable.
Rectangular arch bending pliers are built around a simple principle: the wider the jaw contact with the archwire during bending, the more evenly the bending force is distributed and the more predictably the bend is placed. The standard blade width of this instrument grips the rectangular wire across its full cross-section, which means the jaw does not allow the wire to pivot, tip, or rotate within the grip during the bending motion. This makes it the most controlled instrument in the arch-bending category for all three order bends.
First-order bends adjust the in-out position of individual teeth by adding labial or lingual offsets to the archwire. Second-order bends change the mesiodistal tip by introducing a vertical step at a chosen wire position. Third-order bends, which modify the buccolingual torque of individual teeth by twisting the wire around its long axis, require the most precise jaw grip of the three, since any rotation of the wire within the jaw during the torquing motion introduces a torque error that is difficult to correct without removing and re-bending the wire.
The full-blade jaw of the rectangular arch bending plier is the preferred tool for all three orders when working extraorally on the adjustment tray, where the wider blade creates no access problem. For intraoral adjustments where the blade must fit between brackets, the slim version with its narrower profile is the appropriate choice. Wire capacity is up to .022″ x .025″ (.56 mm x .64 mm), covering all rectangular intermediate and finishing archwires. Medical-grade stainless steel, fully autoclavable.
