Slim Hammerhead NiTi Pliers
CAD 179.99
Slim Hammerhead NiTi Pliers cinch and bend the distal end of a nickel-titanium archwire intraorally, distal to the molar tube, without applying heat to the superelastic wire. The serrated hammerhead jaw grips the wire securely for the bend, and the working end is slimmer than a standard hammerhead plier, improving intraoral access and patient comfort in the posterior region where working space is limited. Because NiTi wire cannot be reliably bent using conventional heat-based cinching methods without risking the wire’s superelastic properties, a mechanical hammerhead design is the standard approach for this step. Wire capacity reaches .025″ NiTi. Medical-grade stainless steel, fully autoclavable.
Cinching back the distal end of a NiTi archwire behind the last molar tube needs to happen without heat, since heating a superelastic nickel-titanium wire can alter the properties that make it useful for gentle, continuous force delivery in the first place.
Slim Hammerhead NiTi Pliers solve this mechanically, using a serrated hammerhead jaw to grip and cinch the wire cold. The working end is slimmer than a standard hammerhead design, which matters most in the posterior region where access around the last molar is already tight.
Clinically, this plier is used to finish placing a NiTi archwire by cinching the distal extension so it does not protrude and irritate the cheek. Wire capacity reaches .025″ NiTi. Medical-grade stainless steel, fully autoclavable.
