Spade Luxator Right

Spade Luxator Right is a spade-bladed luxation instrument, built with a flatter and wider working end than the narrower Luxator periotome line, used to sever the periodontal ligament before a tooth is elevated or removed with forceps.

The right angulation is shaped specifically for mandibular molars and retained root tips on the right side of the lower arch, where the angled blade is needed to approach the tooth from the correct side without obstructing the clinician’s view. The spade blade inserts along the right-angled approach into the periodontal ligament space, and steady apical pressure along the blade cuts the PDL fibers holding the tooth in place, working around the accessible surface of the root rather than prying against it the way a standard elevator would.

Severing the ligament before elevation reduces the force needed at every later stage of the extraction, which lowers the risk of root fracture and damage to the surrounding bone and soft tissue, particularly around the thin buccal plate. This pattern is generally reached for alongside the other angulations in the Spade Luxator family, since covering both arches and multiple approach angles takes more than one blade shape.
