Clinical Use
3/6 Carver, Discoid-Cleoids is an anatomy-carving instrument, built with a discoid blade on one end for broad occlusal surfaces and a cleoid point on the other for pits and grooves. It’s used after composite or amalgam has been placed and condensed, cutting back excess material and defining the occlusal grooves, cusp inclines, and proximal contours the restoration needs to match the surrounding tooth anatomy and occlude correctly against the opposing arch.
Where a burnisher smooths a surface without removing material, a carver’s edge is built to cut – shaping and reducing excess before the surface is finished and polished.
Design and Handling
The blade profile is shaped for controlled, shallow cuts rather than aggressive material removal, letting the clinician sculpt fine anatomical detail without over-carving or disturbing the margin. A balanced handle supports the light, precise pressure carving calls for over a full arch of occlusal and proximal surfaces.
SurgiWorld’s Carvers range spans the Hollenback, Tanner, Wiland, and discoid-cleoid blade families, giving a restorative operatory the anatomy-carving coverage needed across anterior and posterior direct restorations of different sizes.
SurgiWorld supplies this instrument to dental clinics, restorative practices, and dental schools across Canada and the USA, backed by fast replacement stock so a worn or lost instrument doesn’t leave a gap in the tray setup.
Material and Sterilization
Manufactured from medical-grade stainless steel, corrosion resistant and rated for full autoclave sterilization without losing edge or tip definition over repeated cycles.
