87 Lucas Surgical Curette 3.5 mm, Large Double-Ended Spoon for Molar Socket and Cyst Debridement

CAD 89.99

SKU: SC87L

The 87 Lucas surgical curette carries 3.5 mm double-ended mirror-image spoon blades for molar socket debridement, cyst curettage in wider osseous cavities, and granulation tissue removal from multirooted extraction sites where the combined or intact socket dimensions exceed the working coverage of the 2.8 mm #86 spoon. The larger 3.5 mm spoon covers the intact molar socket width in a fewer number of strokes, reducing the total instrument passes required to thoroughly debride the socket walls and base. Double-ended, 50° angled terminal shank, overall length 6.5″ (16.5 cm). Medical-grade stainless steel, autoclavable.

SKU:SC87L

The 87 Lucas surgical curette provides the large spoon size required for molar socket debridement and for cyst or pathological tissue removal from wider bony defects. At 3.5 mm, the blade is substantially wider than the #86’s 2.8 mm spoon, which translates to more socket wall surface being contacted and scraped per stroke. In a multirooted molar socket, particularly an upper first molar socket or a lower second molar socket, the total mesiodistal width at the socket entrance can reach 8 to 10 mm, and the individual root sockets communicate through the furcation in a way that creates a wider combined cavity than a single-rooted tooth’s socket. The 3.5 mm spoon navigates this wider cavity geometry with more effective wall contact than the mid-range #86.

For cyst curettage, the #87 is often the appropriate choice when the cyst cavity is large enough that a smaller spoon would require an excessive number of sweeping strokes to contact all wall surfaces. The wider blade covers more of the cyst wall per pass, which improves the completeness of debridement in fewer total instrument movements. This reduces operating time and minimizes the risk of leaving residual cyst epithelium on the cavity wall, which is the primary concern with incomplete curettage. For very large cysts or pathological defects, the #88 with its 4.7 mm spoon may be the correct selection at the widest part of the cavity, with the #87 used for the narrower portions. Overall length 6.5″ (16.5 cm). Medical-grade stainless steel, corrosion resistant, autoclavable.
