Forming a loop in a Nance holding arch or similar space-maintaining appliance by eye makes it difficult to match the same diameter on both sides of the arch, which can leave the finished appliance visibly asymmetric or uneven in how it seats.
Nance Loop Forming Pliers solve this with a stepped cylindrical beak offering multiple fixed diameters along its length. The clinician selects the seating position on the beak that matches the diameter needed, forms the loop, then uses the grooved base of the beak to close it cleanly.
Clinically, this instrument is used to fabricate the retentive loop in Nance holding arches, transpalatal arches, and similar wire appliances built on stainless steel wire. Wire capacity reaches .022″ (.56 mm). Medical-grade stainless steel, fully autoclavable.
