Rigid Gracey 1/2 Curette, Anterior
CAD 49.99
Rigid Gracey 1/2 Curette is an area-specific hand instrument built for anterior teeth where calculus deposits are moderate to heavy rather than light and burnished. It keeps the same single cutting edge offset at 70 degrees and the same blade curvature as a standard Gracey 1/2, so the blade still adapts closely to incisor and cuspid root anatomy. The difference is the shank: it is thicker and stiffer, which lets the clinician apply more lateral pressure without the shank flexing under load. That added rigidity is useful for gross debridement and periodontal surgery on anterior teeth, where a standard-flex shank would bend before the calculus lets go. Double-ended, medical-grade stainless steel, corrosion resistant, fully autoclavable. Many practices stock the Rigid alongside a standard 1/2 and reach for whichever matches the calculus load that day.
Rigid Gracey 1/2 Curette is selected for anterior teeth carrying moderate to heavy calculus, where a standard-flex Gracey shank would bend before enough lateral pressure reaches the deposit.
The defining feature is a thicker, stronger shank than the standard 1/2, built with the same blade angulation and blade width so technique and adaptation to anterior root anatomy do not change, only the amount of pressure the instrument can transmit without flexing.
Clinically, the Rigid 1/2 is used for moderate to heavy calculus removal, root debridement, and periodontal surgery on anterior teeth, often stocked alongside a standard 1/2 for lighter maintenance visits. Double-ended, medical-grade stainless steel, corrosion resistant, fully autoclavable.
