Rigid Gracey 7/8 Curette, Posterior Facial and Lingual
CAD 49.99
Rigid Gracey 7/8 Curette is an area-specific instrument for the facial and lingual surfaces of posterior teeth, built for cases where calculus is moderate to heavy rather than light. The blade keeps the same single cutting edge offset at 70 degrees found on a standard Gracey 7/8, so it still adapts closely to molar and premolar contours while the passive opposite edge protects the gingival tissue. What changes is the shank, which is thicker and stiffer than the standard version, letting the clinician apply more lateral pressure without the shank flexing before the deposit releases. That makes it a better fit for gross scaling and periodontal surgery on posterior facial and lingual surfaces than a standard-flex shank. Double-ended, medical-grade stainless steel, corrosion resistant, fully autoclavable. It is commonly paired with the Rigid 11/12 and 13/14 for a full heavy-calculus posterior set.
Rigid Gracey 7/8 Curette is selected for the facial and lingual surfaces of posterior teeth when calculus is moderate to heavy and a standard-flex shank would bend before transmitting enough pressure to the deposit.
The defining feature is a thicker, stronger shank than the standard 7/8, while the single 70-degree offset cutting edge and blade curvature stay unchanged, so adaptation to molar and premolar facial and lingual anatomy is identical to the standard version.
Clinically, the Rigid 7/8 is used for gross calculus removal, root debridement, and periodontal surgery on posterior facial and lingual surfaces, typically stocked alongside the Rigid 11/12 and 13/14 for full posterior coverage. Double-ended, medical-grade stainless steel, corrosion resistant, fully autoclavable.
Product Features
- Rigid Gracey 7/8 Curette adds shank strength for heavier calculus on posterior facial and lingual surfaces
- Same 70-degree cutting edge and blade curvature as the standard Gracey 7/8
- Thicker shank withstands more lateral pressure without flexing
- Passive opposite edge still protects gingival tissue during deep strokes
- Suited to gross scaling and periodontal surgery, not just routine maintenance
- Commonly paired with the Rigid 11/12 and 13/14 for full posterior coverage
