Tapered Osteotome, Concave Tip, Straight, 3.2mm is built around a concave, cupped tip geometry rather than the rounded convex profile used elsewhere in a bone-spreading sequence.
The cupped shape lets the tip hold and carry bone graft particulate ahead of it as it is advanced into the osteotomy, rather than simply displacing bone outward. This makes it the tip most often reached for in the final stage of an indirect (closed) sinus lift, where graft material is gently pushed apically to fracture the sinus floor and elevate the Schneiderian membrane without perforating it, though the same carrying action is also useful in general ridge-condensation steps where introducing graft material into the site is part of the plan.
At 3.2mm, this is the second-smallest diameter in the tapered concave-tip range. The straight shaft keeps the handle in-line with the tip for direct control, suited to anterior sites and posterior sites with sufficient straight-line access. Depth markings at 7, 10, 13, 15, and 18mm run along the shaft, which carries particular weight in this application given how close the working tip operates to the sinus floor.
This technique is generally used once the osteotomy has already been prepared to within a few millimeters of the sinus floor by earlier instruments in the sequence, at which point the concave tip takes over for the final, graft-carrying elevation step. Periodontists and oral and maxillofacial surgeons performing indirect (closed) sinus lift procedures rely on this atraumatic, non-perforating approach as an alternative to a lateral window sinus lift in cases with adequate residual bone height. Manufactured from surgical-grade stainless steel, corrosion resistant, fully autoclavable.
