The 2X Miller-Colburn bone file extends the Miller-Colburn series beyond the flat paddle ends of the 1X by introducing a curved working end, while retaining a straight end on the opposite tip so the clinician is not limited to contoured access alone. This combination is selected for ridge sites where the bone surface transitions between a concave contour and a flatter adjacent area within the same field.
Both the curved and straight working ends measure 6.2 mm wide and 22 mm long, and both carry a cross-cut serration that removes bone on the push and pull stroke. The curved end is shaped to follow the natural concavity of a ridge depression or defect margin without catching or gouging the surface, which a straight-edged file would risk doing on a contoured site.
Clinically, the 2X is reached for after the 1X when a site’s anatomy includes a concave or contoured margin, such as the curvature along a healed extraction socket or a ridge defect, and its straight end lets the clinician finish adjacent flat surfaces without changing instruments. Double-ended, medical-grade stainless steel, corrosion resistant, autoclavable.
Product Features
- 2X Miller-Colburn Bone File pairs a curved and a straight 6.2 mm cross-cut working end on one handle
- Curved end follows concave ridge and defect margins without gouging the surface
- Straight end finishes adjacent flat bone without switching instruments
- Cross-cut serration on both ends cuts on push and pull strokes
- 22 mm working length on both ends for consistent reach
- Suited to healed extraction socket margins and contoured ridge defects
- Medical-grade stainless steel, corrosion resistant, fully autoclavable
2X Miller-Colburn vs 3X Miller-Colburn: The 2X combines a curved working end with a straight working end, both 6.2 mm wide, for contoured surfaces that still need a flat-end option on the same handle. The 3X replaces the straight end with a small paddle-shaped tip for finer, more confined access. Use the 2X when a straight finishing end is still needed alongside curved access; move to the 3X when the second end must be narrower.
