300 Root Forceps, Serrated

CAD 189.99

SKU: FR300S

300 Root Forceps, Serrated is built for the upper arch, with narrow beaks that taper to fine, serrated tips shaped to close around a retained root fragment rather than an intact crown. When a crown has fractured off during extraction, or a root has been left behind from an earlier procedure, there’s often no wide crown surface left for a standard forceps pattern to grip cleanly.

The tapered beak profile lets the tips seat around a root that sits at or below the gumline, where a bulkier forceps head would have no clean purchase point. Fine serrations along each beak bite into the root surface just enough to hold it securely without crushing the narrow remaining structure, giving the clinician a controlled grip through delivery.

This is a companion pattern to the lower-arch 301, kept alongside general extraction forceps specifically for retained-root cases in the upper arch – after a coronal fracture, an incomplete prior extraction, or any case where the crown is gone and only a root fragment remains to remove. Manufactured from medical-grade stainless steel, corrosion resistant, fully autoclavable, and rated for repeated sterilization cycles without losing beak alignment or serration sharpness over the life of the instrument.

Clinical Use

300 Root Forceps, Serrated is the upper-arch pattern in the standard 300/301 root-forceps pair, built specifically for retained root fragments rather than intact crowns. It’s reached for whenever the coronal portion of a tooth has fractured off during an extraction attempt, or when a root has been left behind from an earlier procedure and needs to be removed on its own.

A standard extraction pattern is shaped around a full crown surface, which gives it nothing to grip once that structure is gone. The 300’s narrow, tapered beaks close instead around what remains of the root, seating at or below the gumline where a wider forceps head simply cannot reach a clean purchase point.

Design and Handling

Fine serrations run along each beak tip, biting into the root surface just enough to prevent the instrument from slipping during controlled extraction movements, without crushing or fracturing the already-compromised root structure further. The curved shank and ribbed handle grip support the same rotational and luxating movements used with any extraction forceps pattern, scaled down for the finer, more controlled grip a root-fragment removal calls for.

It’s kept on the tray alongside the 301 (its lower-arch counterpart) so a clinician has the correctly angled root pattern on hand for whichever arch the retained fragment is in, rather than adapting a general-purpose forceps to a job it wasn’t shaped for.

Material and Sterilization

Manufactured from medical-grade stainless steel, the 300 Root Forceps, Serrated resists corrosion and holds its beak alignment and serration sharpness through repeated autoclave cycles, keeping the grip consistent case after case.
