84 Lucas Surgical Curette 2 mm, Smallest Double-Ended Spoon Curette for Fine Socket Debridement

CAD 89.99

SKU: SC84L

The 84 Lucas surgical curette is the smallest instrument in the Lucas double-ended series, carrying 2 mm spoon-shaped mirror-image blades suited to fine socket debridement in narrow anterior and single-rooted sockets where larger spoon sizes would risk contacting the surrounding cortical walls. The 50° angled terminal shank provides access to the base and lateral walls of the socket without the clinician repositioning the instrument handle away from the working line of sight. Used for granulation tissue removal, cyst curettage, and socket debridement following extraction. Double-ended with right and left mirror-image spoons. Overall length 6.5″ (16.5 cm). Medical-grade stainless steel, autoclavable.

The 84 Lucas surgical curette provides the finest working end in the Lucas series, with 2 mm spoon blades that enter the narrowest socket dimensions encountered in routine dental surgery. Following extraction of an anterior incisor, a lower premolar, or a slender single-rooted tooth, the socket’s mesiodistal width at the apical third may be narrow enough that a 2.5 mm or larger spoon cannot reach the apical walls without the rim of the spoon contacting the lateral socket wall and preventing full apical seating. The 2 mm spoon clears these narrow dimensions and allows the working edge to be directed against the socket walls and base for thorough curettage without forced lateral pressure against the bone.

The double-ended design places a right-facing and left-facing spoon on opposite ends of the same instrument. The 50° angled terminal shank on each end provides access to the socket floor and lateral walls from an approach angle that keeps the instrument handle in the operator’s normal working position without having to tilt the handle dramatically to redirect the spoon into the socket depth. The spoon’s elongated radius allows a sweeping motion along the socket wall in a single stroke rather than requiring multiple repositions to cover the full wall surface.

Primary clinical uses are the same across all Lucas sizes: granulation tissue removal from the socket following extraction, debridement of infected material or fibrous tissue from cyst cavities, and removal of periapical pathology from the base of the socket before primary closure or grafting. Instrument selection from the Lucas series is based on the socket width at the working depth. Correct spoon sizing allows the working edge to contact the target tissue without the spoon sides pressing against the socket wall, which would both reduce control and risk inadvertent bone removal. Overall length 6.5″ (16.5 cm). Medical-grade stainless steel, corrosion resistant, autoclavable.
