Freer Curved Periosteal Elevator is built with a flat, curved blade on a slender, knurled handle, designed to lift the periosteum cleanly off the underlying bone at the start of flap reflection.
The curved blade profile follows the natural contour of the alveolar bone more closely than a straight-bladed instrument, letting the working edge slide beneath the periosteal layer and separate it from bone without tearing the tissue or gouging the bone surface underneath. This clean separation is what the rest of a surgical procedure depends on: a torn or poorly reflected flap complicates everything that follows, from visibility to closure.
Clinically, it is used to raise a mucoperiosteal flap before extractions, implant placement, or other procedures requiring bone access. Manufactured from medical-grade stainless steel, corrosion resistant, fully autoclavable.
