Osteotome, Curved, 4mm

Categories: ,

Osteotome, Curved, 4mm is a fixed-handle, single-instrument osteotome at 4mm diameter, built for implant site preparation by bone condensation rather than drilling. The curved shaft gives offset access to the osteotomy site, suited to posterior sites with limited mouth opening or restricted straight-line access, where the curved shaft clears the opposing arch and cheek. As with the graduated Palti sequence, the tip laterally displaces and compacts trabecular bone as it advances, widening the site while increasing bone density at the walls instead of cutting material away. Depth markings at 7, 10, 13, 15, and 18mm let the clinician confirm insertion depth by eye throughout the procedure, without needing to stop and re-check with a probe or film. At 4mm, this instrument is typically reached for once a narrower diameter has already opened initial space in the site, whether from a smaller osteotome or a pilot drill, and is used with a mallet or firm hand pressure to bring the osteotomy to its planned final width. At this larger diameter, it is often reached for on wider single-tooth sites or where the treatment plan calls for more ridge expansion than the standard 2.7-4.2mm graduated range provides. Manufactured from surgical-grade stainless steel, corrosion resistant, fully autoclavable.

Osteotome, Curved, 4mm is a 4mm fixed-handle osteotome used to widen and condense an implant site once initial access has already been established, whether by a pilot drill or a narrower osteotome earlier in the sequence.

The curved shaft gives offset access, making it suited to posterior sites with limited mouth opening or restricted straight-line access, where the curved shaft clears the opposing arch and cheek. Like the graduated Palti instruments, the working tip does not cut bone away; it laterally displaces and compacts trabecular bone as it is advanced, increasing bone density at the osteotomy walls while preserving ridge width. This matters most in narrow ridges and softer Type III/IV bone, where a purely drilled site can end up too loose for strong primary implant stability.

Depth markings at 7, 10, 13, 15, and 18mm are cut into the shaft, letting depth be confirmed visually throughout the procedure. At 4mm, this is generally a later-stage instrument in a bone-spreading sequence rather than a starting one, used once a narrower osteotome or drill has already opened the site.

Cases that call for this larger diameter typically involve wider single-tooth sites, sites being expanded beyond what the standard graduated range covers, or treatment plans where extra ridge width is the priority. Periodontists, oral and maxillofacial surgeons, and general dentists placing their own implants use this instrument as a finishing step once a smaller diameter has already established the initial osteotomy. Manufactured from surgical-grade stainless steel, corrosion resistant, fully autoclavable.
