38/39 Excavator, 1.15mm

CAD 49.99

SKU: RX3839
Category:

38/39 Excavator, 1.15mm is built with a matched 1.15mm spoon blade on both ends of the 38/39 pairing. The spoon-shaped blade is angled to scoop and shear softened, carious dentin away from sound tooth structure by hand, giving the clinician tactile control that a rotary bur doesn’t offer when working close to the pulp or along a cavity wall that needs to stay intact.

Matched blades on both ends mean the same cutting geometry is available from either side of the handle, useful for reaching a preparation from different angles without switching instruments mid-procedure.

Manufactured from medical-grade stainless steel, corrosion resistant and rated for full autoclave sterilization without losing edge or tip definition over repeated cycles.

It rounds out SurgiWorld’s Excavators lineup alongside the existing spoon excavator sizes already on the tray, giving a fuller range of blade sizes for caries removal across different preparation depths and widths.

SurgiWorld supplies this instrument to dental clinics, restorative practices, and dental schools across Canada and the USA, backed by fast replacement stock so a worn or lost instrument doesn’t leave a gap in the tray setup during a busy clinical day, and by a full range of matched sizes and patterns within the same product line for whenever the case calls for a different profile.

Clinical Use

38/39 Excavator, 1.15mm is a hand excavator, built with a matched 1.15mm spoon blade on both ends of the 38/39 pairing. Spoon excavators are used to remove softened, carious dentin from a cavity preparation by hand, scooping and shearing the material away from sound tooth structure with tactile feedback a rotary bur can’t provide – particularly valuable when working near the pulp or along a wall that needs to be preserved.

It’s typically reached for after initial access has been made with a bur, to complete caries removal at the periphery and floor of the preparation with more control than rotary instrumentation allows in that final, most sensitive stage.

Design and Handling

The spoon-shaped blade edges are sharpened to shear carious material cleanly rather than crush or burnish it, and the matched double-ended design gives the same cutting profile from either end of the handle. A balanced grip supports the light, controlled pressure hand excavation calls for.

Alongside the existing spoon excavator sizes already stocked under Excavators, this addition rounds out the range of blade sizes available for hand caries removal across shallower and deeper preparations.

SurgiWorld supplies this instrument to dental clinics, restorative practices, and dental schools across Canada and the USA, backed by fast replacement stock so a worn or lost instrument doesn’t leave a gap in the tray setup.
