8 Miller Surgical Curette 3.4 mm, Double-Ended Spoon for Socket Debridement and Curettage

CAD 89.99

SKU: SC8M

The 8 Miller surgical curette carries identical 3.4 mm spoon-shaped blades on both ends, with each end being a mirror image of the other, providing matched bilateral debridement coverage from a single instrument. The 40° angled terminal shank and 22 mm shank reach give this instrument a different access geometry than the Lucas series, with the shallower 40° angle providing a more gradual approach to the socket walls that suits the tooth positions and access angles where the Miller pattern is preferred. Used for socket debridement, granulation tissue removal, and cyst curettage. Medical-grade stainless steel, autoclavable.

The 8 Miller surgical curette is a double-ended instrument whose two working ends carry identical 3.4 mm spoon blades, each being a mirror image of the other in orientation. This matched-end design means both ends of the instrument are the same size and perform the same debridement function, with the only difference between them being the direction the spoon faces. The clinician uses whichever end provides the better approach angle to the socket wall being debrided at each stroke, and rotates the instrument 180 degrees to access the opposite wall surface without changing instruments.

The Miller series is distinguished from the Lucas series primarily by its shank geometry. The Miller’s 40° shank angle is shallower than the Lucas’s 50°, and the 22 mm terminal shank reach brings the working spoon a specific distance from the shank bend point. Together these dimensions create an access geometry that is well-suited to specific tooth positions and socket configurations where the Lucas’s steeper 50° shank approach would not provide optimal spoon-to-wall contact. Many oral surgeons and periodontists stock both Lucas and Miller series on their surgical tray and select between them based on the tooth being extracted and the resulting socket anatomy.

The 3.4 mm blade width of the #8 Miller covers mid-range socket dimensions – larger than the narrowest anterior sockets where the 2 mm or 2.5 mm Lucas spoons are appropriate, and appropriate for premolar and some molar socket debridement. Medical-grade stainless steel, corrosion resistant, autoclavable at standard steam sterilization parameters.

Product Features

  • 40° terminal shank angle and 22 mm reach provide access geometry distinct from the Lucas series for different socket access conditions
  • 3.4 mm blade covers mid-range socket dimensions across premolar and molar positions
  • For socket debridement, granulation tissue removal, and cyst curettage
  • Medical-grade stainless steel, corrosion resistant, fully autoclavable
