Adson hemostat straight dental forceps extend the long-shank Adson design to a straight jaw configuration for direct-access deep tissue work. The 7.5″ (19 cm) shank length provides the same benefit as the curved version: the ring handle sits outside or at the anterior margin of the oral cavity even when the tips are working at the depth of a posterior socket, preventing the clinician’s hand from blocking the visual field and reducing the ergonomic strain associated with positioning a shorter instrument at full posterior depth.
The straight jaw is the configuration of choice when the target site is accessible from a direct, forward-facing approach and the clinical priority is precise visual control of the instrument tip through the approach and engagement stroke. Under dental surgical magnification, a straight jaw axis that aligns with the clinician’s visual axis simplifies tip tracking and reduces the cognitive load of compensating for a curved instrument’s tip offset during fine work. This makes the straight Adson particularly practical for root tip retrieval in accessible anterior sites, for direct-access vessel control in visible surgical fields, and for instrument passage to deep sites in patients where an anterior approach is available and adequate.
The straight and curved Adson hemostats are complementary instruments. The straight is the default when visual access allows; the curved is selected when the approach geometry requires the jaw to be angled toward the target. Medical-grade stainless steel, autoclavable.
