DeBakey Vascular Tissue Forceps, 2.5mm Wide, 6″ carries finely ridged, non-toothed tips built for atraumatic tissue handling, a different approach from the tooth-and-lock grip an Adson pattern relies on.
The 2.5mm tip width allows precise placement in a small surgical field, while the fine longitudinal ridging along the inner tip surface grips tissue gently enough to avoid crushing vessels, thin mucosa, or other fragile structures that a toothed forceps could tear. Developed originally as a vascular surgery instrument, this atraumatic grip style has become a practical addition to oral surgical trays for the same reason: some tissue in the mouth is simply too delicate for a toothed grip.
Clinically, it is used for handling delicate mucosa, small vessels, and friable tissue during oral surgical procedures where minimizing trauma is the priority. Manufactured from medical-grade stainless steel, corrosion resistant, fully autoclavable.
