1×2 Hemostat Straight 14cm, Kocher-Pattern Toothed Locking Forceps for Dense Tissue

CAD 79.99

SKU: HS115

The 1×2 hemostat straight dental instrument is a 5.5″ (14 cm) Kocher-pattern locking forceps featuring a 1×2 interlocking tooth configuration at the jaw tip combined with horizontal serrations along the full jaw length. The 1×2 teeth provide the primary grip: one jaw tooth interlocks with two opposing teeth to create a mechanical lock on the clamped tissue that serrations alone cannot match. This toothed-tip design is selected over standard serrated hemostats when firmer tissue control is required, such as for dense fibrous tissue, periosteum, or gauze packing. The ratchet lock holds clamping position without hand pressure. Medical-grade stainless steel, autoclavable.

The 1×2 hemostat straight dental instrument introduces a fundamentally different tip design compared to the standard serrated hemostats in this catalog. The serration-only designs used on the Kelly and mosquito patterns grip tissue through friction, relying on the interlocking ridges of opposing serrations to prevent the tissue from slipping out from between the jaws under tension. This is effective for blood vessels, which are elastic enough to conform to the serration pattern under compression. For denser tissue types, such as fibrous soft tissue, periosteum, granulation tissue bundles, and gauze packing, friction alone may be insufficient to maintain a secure hold when the tissue is put under traction.

The 1×2 tooth design addresses this by adding a mechanical interlock at the jaw tip. The single tooth on one jaw fits between the two teeth on the opposing jaw and cannot slip free in any direction without significant displacement of the jaw position. This makes the instrument grip on dense tissue far more secure than a serration-only pattern, and the combination of the 1×2 tip interlock with horizontal serrations along the rest of the jaw length provides both mechanical tooth grip at the tip and friction grip along the jaw body.

In dental surgical applications, this instrument is selected when periosteal tissue needs to be held under traction for dissection, when dense mucosal tags require firm grasping for excision, or when gauze packs need to be held and placed in the surgical site without slipping from the instrument grip. The straight jaw configuration allows direct-access tissue control with clear tip visibility. Length is 5.5″ (14 cm), matching the standard Kelly length for easy cross-tray instrument exchange. Medical-grade stainless steel, autoclavable.
