Finishing-stage archwires already carry the torque and arch form built up over treatment, so a contouring adjustment at this stage needs to refine curvature without twisting or disturbing that torque, which a heavier or less controlled bending tool can do inadvertently.
Hollow Chop Contouring Pliers use the same matched concave and convex jaw geometry as a general hollow chop plier, sized and applied for smaller, finishing-stage adjustments where fine control over the curve matters more than the working range of a mid-treatment contouring tool.
Clinically, this plier is used for finishing-stage curvature refinement on round and rectangular archwire, where preserving existing torque is the priority. Wire capacity reaches .030″. Medical-grade stainless steel, fully autoclavable.
