Kelly Hemostat Straight, 14cm

CAD 79.99

SKU: HS111

The Kelly hemostat straight dental instrument is a 13cm (~5 inches) locking hemostatic forceps designed for blood vessel clamping, loose object retrieval, root tip removal, and tissue manipulation during dental surgical procedures. The half-serrated jaw design carries serrations along the distal half of the jaw length, giving the clinician a firm, non-slip grip on vessels and tissue fragments while the smooth proximal half reduces the risk of traumatizing soft tissue at the jaw base during closure. The ratchet locking mechanism holds the jaws at the clamped position without sustained hand pressure, allowing the instrument to remain in place while the surgeon works at the site. Medical-grade stainless steel, fully autoclavable, 13cm (~5 inches) in length.

The Kelly hemostat straight dental forceps is one of the most commonly placed instruments on a dental surgical tray. Its functions span bleeding control, tissue management, foreign body retrieval, and root tip removal, covering multiple tasks within a single extraction or implant procedure. The straight jaw configuration aligns the working tips directly in front of the clinician’s line of sight, making it the natural choice for procedures in the anterior dental arch and for any task where a direct approach to the target tissue is available.

The half-serrated jaw is the Kelly’s most clinically significant design feature relative to other hemostat patterns. Standard mosquito and Crile hemostats carry full-length serrations across the entire jaw surface. The Kelly’s serrations occupy only the distal half of the jaw, leaving the proximal half smooth. When the instrument closes around a vessel or tissue bundle, the serrated tips grip the target tissue firmly while the smooth jaw section avoids creating a secondary crush injury in the soft tissue proximate to the clamped zone. This is particularly relevant in dental surgical applications where working space is limited and adjacent structures are close to the operative site.

The ratchet lock operates in two steps, providing two levels of clamping pressure. The first ratchet position holds the jaws at a light closed position suitable for suture holding and loose object retrieval; the second provides a firmer lock for sustained vessel clamping prior to ligation or electrocautery. Ring handles accommodate a comfortable finger-ring grip with index and ring fingers for sustained use without hand fatigue. Length is 5.5″ (14 cm), the standard Kelly size. Medical-grade stainless steel, corrosion resistant, autoclavable.
